Gathering the care of Child Cancer Patients
Gathering the care of Child Cancer Patients, or we called in bahasa “Temu wicara para pemerhati kanker” was held by Kasih Kanker Foundation (YKAKI). This Foundation has been found since 2006, mutated from its route Onkologi Anak Indonesia Foundation (YOAI). This foundation is focusing to Cancer patients quality of life.
At March 21, 2012 they finally held a gathering for all foundations and government who care for child cancer patients. The meeting was held in Ministry of Health Department Republic of Indonesia in Jl. Percetakan Negara no. 29 and attended by Director of non-communicable disease, Head of Cancer Division of the Ministry of Health Department Republic of Indonesia, President of YKAKI, President of YOAI, President of Mutiara Indonesia Foundation, Representative of Rachel House Foundation, Secretary of Ronald Mc Donald House Foundation, Chairman of MAIN Foundation, and other doctors, representative, and media.
Here we shared what each foundation has made and plan for improving these children’s quality of life. We also shared what constraints we had face for the improvement. For the future we hope that Indonesia can have it’s own registry for all children with cancer to reduce the loss to follow up and we also hope for better improvement of insurance for the needy. The other improvement that is already planned is the spreading of information throughout Indonesia including the suburban and villages. And last but not least, one of the most important things to improve too is the hospital referral system throughout Indonesia.
We hope, we together with the government can improve the survival rate and quality of life of the child cancer patients.
